What Are We After In This Window?
I have deliberately decided not to actively follow transfer stories this summer like I decided a lot of windows ago and wait for only when there are concrete or confirmed stories.
I rely solely on some groups that I know I can get updates without having to go out of my way. I used to follow the transfer window actively years back, using sites like "Arsenal News Now" - a compilation of all Arsenal-related transfer stories across different tabloids and outlets.
I believe I resorted to this due to the several years of heartbreaks in following transfers closely and not seeing most materialise.
The players we've been linked with in recent times have been Fabian Ruiz and Mikel Merino, who are both midfielders. I believe the departure of Smith Rowe could potentially be the reason for either of those deals, even though I don't think that should be our priority.
Both had a good Euros outing no doubt, especially Ruiz but both at 28 years, I don't think they're the kind of talents we should be after to replace a 24-year old Smith Rowe.
Ruiz for instance, since his move to PSG, has not been a regular in the side and has found playing time far and in-between. It even came to me as a surprise that he was able to hold down a first team spot in the Spanish squad for the Euros.
No doubt, both deals could cost us about £60-70M, which I think aren't bad bargains, but I don't think that position is what we should prioritize at this moment.
Again, I trust Arteta, but I don't know for how long we can keep calm without a major trophy.
That last line, indeed. Though I am not a fan of any English club, for FPL, I follow EPL and EPL-related news more often. It was heartbreaking in the 2022-23 season. The way Arsenal played, should be the Champion.
Well, I am focusing now on you guys for news about my Fantasy Team. Keep updated me. Love.
Hopefully, we can go one better this season. Really optimistic.
How's your FPL team looking? Salah + Haaland? Only one of them? Or neither?
I didn’t pick a team yet. The situation of my country is not well. Internet speed is too low. Our community is now busy to support students against govt. I will pick my team soon.
I rarely watch the news - it's always so depressing. Good luck with your fight for justice. It's very sad to see what's happening at the moment.
Yes, indeed. Thank you.
I recommend giving this a watch...
I found it very interesting as I don't think many would have expected Arsenal to go big on a defender after how good they were defensively last season.
I don't know what they'll look at next... There's very little cover for Saka on the right and we started to see last season that he was picking up injuries. Having had very little rest over the summer, we could see those injuries increase this season and under the stress of another title challenge and Champions League football. Perhaps Trossard is that cover but then things look light on the other wing. My guess would be that they will look for somebody who can play on both wings. Gabriel Jesus doesn't count.
Absolutely. Defence was the last place I thought they'd want to strengthen but I guess his qualities were even too much to overlook and he'd provide more depth, especially with the potential more games.
Seen the video. His stats are insane, especially his interceptions for me. I like when a defender does that and the fact he can carry the ball is a thing of joy. The Croatia game a case in point.
I sometimes don't like to dwell much on these stats so as not to get disappointed afterwards, but his numbers are impressive. Lol
The case of "no cover" for Saka has turned to an anthem but I really don't understand if the management are deliberately closing their eyes out to that or they haven't found their man. I wouldn't have minded Aston Villa's Diaby before he moved there. Well, Jesus would be an option for me, at least, better than having him as a point man.
