My Favorite Midfielder - Luka Modrić
Greetings to you are all doing well and enjoying the festive season as much. I wish all members of WOX Sports community and fellow steemians a Merry Christmas and prosperous new year in advance. Another edition this weekly contest brought to us by @sportsnixon1 is here, it is really interesting just thinking about the contest topic “my favorite midfielder”. Midfielders I see to be the central point of team’s performance in a game, the stronger the midfield is, the more the possession the team holds and great opportunities created to win the game.
I’ve never thought about choosing a favorite midfielder until now, they are several great midfielders in football currently and I admire most them. But if it come to that I choose, then I have no option and will make no mistake about my choice. Luka Modrić is the name of my favorite midfielder in football currently.

Luka Modrić is a 37 year old Croatian and Real Madrid midfielder, he plays as a central midfielder whilst wearing the number 10 jersey in both country and club. He started his professional as a footballer in the Croatian U15 national team in 2001 and then moved through the top divisions before making it finally to the senior team of Croatia in 2006. He also started his senior career at club at Dinamo Zagreb in 2003 to 2008 then a couple of temporal moves to other clubs before being bought to be the English side Tottenham Hotspur player in 2008 to 2012. He was then transferred to the Spanish side Real Madrid in 2012 and that is where he currently plays his football as a very fine and accomplished midfielder. Luka Modrić is 37 years old, born on 9th September 1985 at Zadar Croatia, he is 1.72m in height and is dominant right foot player.

Luka Modrić is normally a central midfielder and he plays that position so well due to experience, dribbling skills, ball control and pace. He also sometimes plays as an attacking midfielder and also a defensive midfielder due his incredible stamina, control. Experience and speed. Despite his age now, he still plays like a young teenager in both club and country playing his position role very well with little to no mistakes. Another special ability of Luka Modrić is that, he is a very good passer of the baller. He controls the ball very well when is at his feet and almost like he commands it to go wherever that please him. Also, even though he is a dominant right foot person, he has trained himself to be able to use both feet very well almost like he has no weak foot.
Despite him being a very good player and midfielder for so long, I started noticing and following Luka Modrić at the FIFA World Cup 2018 at Russia. Where he performed his heart out leading the Croatian team from the group stages of the competition right to the finals of the competition, where they were the runner-up’s of the 2018 FIFA World Cup competition after losing to France at the finals. And I have been following him ever since that time especially at his club team Real Madrid in Spain.
Luka Modrić is loved and idolized by both fans and his fellow players all around the world, he plays really good football, understands the game and makes a difference every time he is in a game. Despite his age, he plays very well even at full time 90 minutes and makes an impact every second that he spends in the game. He attacks every time and runs around like a 22 year old player instead of a 37 year old man, his teammates even doubt his age sometimes and find him unbelievable. An amazing and incredible midfielder he is and very competent leader.
Real Madrid of Spain in La Liga is his current club football team, the best football club in the world that is. He also plays for his national team Croatia, and was their captain who played in every single match that they went through to secure their bronze medal in the just ended Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.
