England 2-1 Slovakia

Another bad game for England. This time they were not even good at the beginning of the game. The midfield does not create much and you can't expect a good attack if this is not happening. Even defensively they were bad, the Slovak goal was a terrible display of a defense that lost their position. As I said the first half was awful for England, in fact Slovakia had a couple of chances after their goal.

The second half saw a slightly improved England but as time went buy the players started to look desperate. And even with a better handling of the ball they only had three options before stoppage time, a correctly disallowed Foden goal, a Kane header and Rice hitting the post which was actually the closest they got. Then came the stoppage time, six minutes given by the referee. I must say here, Slovakia would have won this game except for two players deciding to kill time by pretending to be hurt, this made the ref give the additional minute.

England went all out for these six minutes, and Slovakia just decided to defend, to me the best defense is attack. When there were just seconds left a throw in from Walker was deflected and Bellingham scored a great goal. Bellingham who, to me, was the worst player England fielded saved the day. Another point, Slovakia nearly scored a goal from midfield, I have no idea why Pickford was out of his area, luckily the shot was not aimed right.

Then came extra time, of course England, the one with better players would most likely come out ahead here and they did with a Kane goal. But the last minutes England ceded the midfield, and Slovakia was able to get the English defense nervous. Again attack is the best defense.

But England are through to the quarter finals where they will face a very good Switzerland side. I would not bet on England to beat Switzerland except if there are changes, in players and attitude. So far they have not face a strong side, Switzerland should be incredibly difficult for them. But then again, like crypto, football is unpredictable, and England might just end up winning it all.
