Basically, an adverb is a word that tells us how, where, why, in what manner something is done or happens. In most cases to form an adverb just add 'ly' to an adjective.

Example:
I drive slowly.
slow+ly = slowly

Hope that helped.

oH! does that mean when ever the word ends with ly, will be regarded as adverb
i.e quickly, shortly, and so on

Of course not. For example, the word friendly is an adjective.

ok its that there are some words that can take ly at the end of the word but its not an adverb?

i am really comfused

Adverbs is
a word or phrase that modifies or qualifies an adjective, verb, or other adverb or a word group, expressing a relation of place, time, circumstance, manner, cause, degree, etc. (e.g., gently, quite, then, there )

i dont really get it? plz can u clarify by making sentences

An adverb is a word that modifies (describes) a verb (he sings loudly), an adjective (very tall), another adverb (ended too quickly), or even a whole sentence (Fortunately, I had brought an umbrella). Adverbs often end in -ly, but some (such as fast) look exactly the same as their adjective counterparts.

These are the simple examples:-

When? She always arrives early.
How? He drives carefully.
Where? They go everywhere together.
In what way? She eats slowly.
To what extent? It is terribly hot.

i understand this clearly now thanks you
