HITCHHIKING ACROSS POLAND | OUR UNFORGETABLE ADVENTURE IN ZAKOPANE (VIDEO)

in #hitchhiking6 years ago (edited)

Hitchhiking across Poland was a part of our journey to Iran.
Some facts about all itinerary in our introduction video

:)

This time I would like to show you a few moments from the Southern part of this Eastern European country.
Luckily hitchhiking in that part of Poland was not that difficult. However, we had to walk for a few kilometers too, because that day there weren't many cars driving towars Slovakia. The most memmorable adventure we had that day happened somewhere not far away from the gorgeous town of Zakopane. :D

Zakopane lies in the southern part of the Podhale region at the foot of the Tatra Mountains. Known informally as "the winter capital of Poland” it is a popular destination for mountaineering, skiing and qualified tourism. Oh my! I would really like to come back there again. Who knows. Maybe I will.

Our big adventure started when we decided that it was enaugh for that day and that we should probably start looking for a spot to spend a night. We needed a remote area as it is probably not completely legal to build a tent in someones field. Luckily we found one. Actually it was on a hill about two kilometers away from the town itself. We were already prepairing to go to sleep when Kamile heared a strange noise. It was a sound of a whistle and a herd of around 400 sheep running down the hill. "Oh dear! We are in deep trouble" we thought. However, the herd went right past us and nothing bad happened. After a moment 5 shepherd dogs came and started barking. We were strangers in their territory...

It might sound weird, but this was probably the best thing that could happen to us. :D Soon we saw the shepherd himself. We realised it was actually his land we were camping in. He was around 50 years old man with a sincere smile on his face. We couldn't speak Polish and he couldn't speak English or Lithuanian, but we understood each other well. Our new friend let us stay for a night...
Next morning he came with a friend. We called his friend "intellectuall of the willage" as he could speak English well. :D Kamile and I were invited for breakfast in their farm. Home made cheese and flavored bread... what could be better... Guys even bring some kind of local beverage and assured me it was extremely good for "men's health"... :D

What an unforgetable acquaintance. However, it was definitely not the last one. We still had a long way to go across Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey and Georgia. Our next video will be about Hungary and one very special Hungarian man who hosted us for three days and later took us to Romania... :O:D

Haha, it's cute how your gf travels with her teddy.

It's name is Kevin, because Kevin Hart is one of her favorite comedians. :D
Hey, I can see you are from Romania. Which part of Romania exactly? In near future we will upload a video about Romania too. :)

I'm from Bucharest, looking forward to your videos when you reach Romania.

We loved Romania so much. Especially Transylvania. :)

We're planning to visit Zakopane this summer with a kid and walk some valleys. Your story feels reassuring we will have a feast for our eyes :)

Oh yes. You definetely will. :) There are some amazing views on the Slovakian side of Tatras too. Not so far from Zakopane actually.
