Stragnoli

In the mountains of Romania, when a woman who did not marry dies, the village prepares a nuptial ceremony for her. As it has died before its time, the "stragnoli", incomplete soul, infuriates. He wants to drag the living before going to the next world. To give her peace this symbolic wedding is organized. They dress the corpse in a wedding dress and ask a local man to act as a boyfriend. Friends and relatives of the dead dress their best clothes. When they finish, they place a doll inside the coffin as a representation of the children the girl could never have. They then close the coffin and bring it down to the pit. The "stragnoli" can go quiet: it is now a complete soul.

En las montañas de Rumania, cuando muere una mujer que no llegó a casarse, el pueblo le prepara una ceremonia nupcial. Como ha muerto antes de su tiempo, la "stragnoli", alma incompleta, enfurece. Desea arrastrar a los vivos antes de irse al otro mundo. Para darle paz se organiza esa boda simbólica. Visten al cadáver con traje de novia y le piden a un hombre del lugar que funja como novio. Los amigos y familiares de la muerta visten sus mejores ropas. Al terminar, colocan un muñeco dentro del féretro como representación de los hijos que la joven nunca pudo tener. Cierran entonces el ataúd y lo bajan a la fosa. La "stragnoli" puede irse tranquila: es ahora un alma completa.
