Really silly punishment for an old man...
He has a lot of bright memories for his prison time.
Do you believe in theory that all criminals are born criminals or they are brought up like this by the society and life?
well Boston was a pretty crazy place back then so his environment may have played a lot into how he ended up being this way. Had he been raised in say, small town Kansas it is conceivable that he wouldn't have become a gangster mob-boss. However, he still my have gravitated towards crime anyway. It's the old nature vs. nurture argument and in the end it is impossible to say.
I think his situation is unique because his siblings didn't end up that way. His younger brother had a very promising legal political career although a lot of people would just say that his younger brother was just the "smarter criminal" :)
