in #history6 years ago
Early July, archaeologists in Egypt discovered a large black granite coffin in Alexandria.

The sarcophagus was found buried 16.4 feet below the surface. A layer of mortar between the lid and the body of the sarcophagus indicates that it has not been opened since it was closed more than 2,000 years ago. Mysterious giant sarcophagus discovered in Egypt source

For 2,000 years this chest was untouched. It is understandable that the discovery of an ancient coffin or sarcophagus triggered rumours in recent times.

Some thought this coffin contained Iskandar Agung's body, while others said that this coffin contained a death curse.

After opening and doing research, it turned out that it wasn't both. The ministry that deals with ancient objects in Egypt specifically appoints teams assigned to open coffins found in one construction area.

According to Egyptian media El-Watan, they initially opened a little of this chest, about five centimetres but the team members faced the smell from the very stingy chest.

So sharp, all the team members lifted their feet and moved away from the chest. The second attempt to open the coffin was assisted by a team from the Egyptian military.

What is obtained is the bones of three people, this is like a family funeral. Unfortunately, the mummies in the coffin are not in good condition, so what remains is bones," the coffin contained the deadly Pharaoh's curse, as the community talked about.

They have opened the box and it turns out the world is not dark. The first person to see the contents of the sarcophagus and can still stand before.

Even so, for a while, this crate is quarantined to prevent the possibility of this chest removing deadly toxic gas.

Experts say the bones in this coffin are likely to be soldiers who lived at the time of Pharaoh.

At almost two metres high and three metres in length, the sarcophagus is the largest of its kind to be discovered intact in the ancient city. It was found alongside a large alabaster head believed to represent the inhabitant of the tomb, which had remained untouched for thousands of years.

One of the skulls showed an arrow hit by an arrow. The sarcophagus is three meters long and nearly two meters high. This is the largest sarcophagus found intact.

It weighs about 27 tons and is thought to have originated in the era of 323 BC or after the death of Iskandar Agung.

Archaeologists are now conducting an in-depth study to determine exactly when these skeletal owners live and how they die.
