The Legend of Xu Fu
Thousands of years later, it is said that Xu Fu's legend, which has many sculptures and temples in his name, is also the beginning of Sino-Japanese relations, because of the numerous contributions he made to Japan.
Statue of Xu Fu
Xu Fu borned in 255 BC in the china when the Qin Dinasty was in Charge . He worked for the first Emperor Qin Shi Huang as a Palace magician , before we go further about the legend of Xu Fu eventhough I mentioned about Qin Shi Huang in my previous article I will briefly explain uniter of the China Qin Shi Huang again.
Qin Shi Huang
Qin Shi Huang was the emperor who united the power in china in a Center and he was the first emperor of china and he was the who ordered to build the Great Wall , when we consider that era everyone was dying quite in early age and he wanted to accomplish so much things , when he was first sit in the throne he was 13 and people can easily die in 20-30 age at that time , therefore in order to accomplish his plans in development he wanted to find immortality and live forever. He made a memorial tomb with 700.000 workers and the tomb was 57 km's , however it wasn't enough for him he wanted to discover a simple immortality potion or anything that will make him live longer. He ordered palace wizard Xu-Fu to find immortality potion and he said don't come back without finding it.
After this order Xu Fu sailed to the sea in order to find the wizard that lives in a legendary Penglai Mountain and find the immortality potion with his crew.
Well he couldn't come back to Qin because of the possibility of losing his head , therefore he sailed for years to find that potion. When he was sailing his ship hit the bottom and they found themselves in an island named Danzhou and the local folk in there was still in the primal eras so he teached them how to forge iron , agriculture and creating silk , therefore the island folk thought he was a god.
Obviously , 2 millenium pasted after this event but there are still statues and temples dedicated to Xu fu however the name is not Danzhou anymore its Japan.
A great history article. This post will surely add insight for its readers, especially for some who do not know history.
