Memories from a Special Anniversary celebration from 2014

August 4, 1984 was our Wedding Day -- Our 33rd Anniversary is this Friday.

Bruce and I had the most fun wedding ever, combining Italian, American, and Lebanese traditions and fun. I will tell you more about that another time.

We live in a beautiful suburban and historic area north of Philadelphia along the Delaware River.

I love American History, and always enjoyed going to Museums and places to learn about history where it is "living". Some favorite spots were Old Sturbridge Village in Massachusetts https://www.osv.org/, Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia https://www.osv.org/, and the various museums and historic sites in Washington, DC and Philadelphia, PA.

When we moved to this part of Pennsylvania from Southern California, I was pleasantly situated right in the middle of the American Revolutionary War area. We live 10 minutes or so from the spot that George Washington crossed the Delaware River in 1776. We are about an hour from Valley Forge where the bloody battles were fought during the Civil War. My niece's boyfriend is a re-enactor for the Civil War and they have battles during Spring through the Fall all over the area. (He fights for the North! LOL)

Now to the part about the Anniversary!! That was all background....

I noticed a PBS show one day about a chef cooking historically accurate food at Washington Crossing Park on open fire pits near where we live. That was my park! It turned out that this was the first season of the show, and I immediately fell in love.

Here is the PBS page about the Emmy Award winning Show starring Chef Walter Staub.

The Chef is from Germany, so I had to get used to his accent as he talked about the way food preparation, fruits, vegetables, and proteins were different then. Bruce and I watched every show from every season, and it was so exciting.

I realized that the historic Inn that Chef Staub owns is right in Philadelphia! Bruce took me there for a wonderful lunch on our Anniversary in 2014.

The restaurant is City Tavern, https://www.citytavern.com/, and it has been a tremendous part of our history since 1772!

The food is authentic and delicious.

We did not get to meet Chef Staub, but when I told the waiter how much we love him - the waiter called Chef Staub at home. He told our waiter that he could not come in until the evening, but to wish us a Happy Anniversary, and to give us one of the DVD's of the latest season of his show!!

Here are some photos from our lunch. Be patient with me, I still don't know enough about formatting photos here, etc!!

Congratulations on 33 years! I can see there's tons of love.

I love how history comes to life up in the Northeast! I'm helping a friend of mine in PA get started in Steem.
