Etats de Bourgogne

During the french royal period, France was divided in différents area (province). Those areas had assemblies to vote for the budget.
This token (counter) was for a member of the assembly of Burgundy for the year 1704. In those assemblies the three orders were represented (1/3 Nobility, 1/3 churchmen, 1/3 Ordinary men called "tiers état")
Each representant recieved a bursa of 100 Counters (tokens)

On the Obverse : COMITIA BURGUNDIAE the arms of the province.
On the reverse : REGIT ME ET DIRIGIT ORBEM a solar clock. 1725.
