History of the Amazon female warrior
Amazon is a race of female warriors in Greek mythology. Amazon often appears in Greek and Roman myths although it is not known whether they are purely mythical or real figures. According to Greek myth, Amazon has an independent kingdom located in Turkey. There are various versions of the location of the Amazon kingdom but are usually considered to be located on a known world border. Men are not allowed to stay in the Amazon or marry Amazon. Every year, Amazon will marry tribe members who are all composed of men, Gargarean, to defend their populations. The baby boy will be left, killed, or sent to be raised by Gargarean. Amazon took a role in various Greek mythological stories. The most famous story is the Attic War that took place between Athens and the Amazon. This war was triggered when Hercules stole the magic corset of the Amazon queen, Hippolyta, as one of the twelve tasks Hercules had to accomplish. Hercules is aided by Theseus who later kidnapped Hippolyta's sister, Antiope. Amazon then responded by attacking Attica in southern Greece, but could be defeated by the Athenians. In some versions, Theseus then married Antiope, while in another version married Hippolyta. In both versions, the story is the only one that mentions the married Amazon. From marriage, Theseus had a son named Hippolytus. Archaeological evidence suggests that there may have been female soldiers living in Scythia, the northern Eurasian region of the Caspian Sea. The grave of a female soldier was recorded to have been found in the area. Because the men in the area often go to war for a long time, women are supposed to defend themselves which ultimately inspires the myths about the Amazon
