It's a great and rare collection of some memorable moments and memories. A very informative and joyful post!

Thank you, I appreciate that you have enjoyed reading it. :)

You are welcome. I did enjoyed and hope to see more from you.

You are in a great time warp, go further back if you can, Shirley Thoms, with Tex Morton era.

hehe time warp is right. I seem to be stuck in the 70s so must set the tardis to go back further :D

The first million record seller in country music was in 1924, and that was more that there were people in NZ.

As long as I don't have to promote Ten Guitars ... :P

be careful, I will flood you with Tex songs, and there is some of his later stuff on Utube.
one his last "you will never be missed" is very true, like a lot of his songs.
if you have a good supply of tissues try "In the luggage van ahead"
"the cat came back" will return the smile, but if it is a little slow, add "Peg Leg Jack"
if I knew how to send them to you I would, and he is only 1930/40's
go back to 1924 with Vernon Dalhart and The Prisoners Song.
nobody could afford ten guitars, it was all
1 mic, 1 man, 1 Guitar, 1 take.

haha I think I prefer uplifting songs, not tissue songs
I have found the perfect solution to all this country music ... ;)

That was a great selection. I had forgotten most of those, but the memories just come flooding straight back. The iconic sights of Dick Taylor winning the Gold, and of John Walker's hair streaming behind him as he came in for Silver. Deane Waretini's voice has that unique sound that can only be a Maori kiwi. Hogsnort Rubert... Craig Grant...

I've always remembered Craig Scott because my Dad had one of those compilation albums, which he was on. Weird how certain things stick in your mind, lol.

Solid Gold Hits! I had volumes 1 to 3.

I wish I could remember just how many my Dad had. A good number I suspect (as well as other albums).
