Amsterdam Then & Now #3 : Flowers at Cornelis Troostplein
No architecture today. Instead, I'd like to introduce you to my favourite flower stall in my neighbourhood: Jonkmans Bloemenhandel located on the Cornelis Troostplein.
This flower stall has been in this same spot since 1960 and has always remained in the family. It is the number 1 shop where I get my tulips from. As you can see... Not much has changed over the years. The stall is a lot bigger now and has electricity. And the original owner is retired and has been replaced by his kids and grandkids. But the flowers are still as fresh and beautiful as the first day that I bought flowers here, some 15 years ago...

The square itself isn't very exciting. It is small and triangular in shape. The last 5 years, a lot of good restaurants and bars have opened up surrounding the square.
Like almost all streets in this area, this little plaza with the flower stall is named after a painter. In this case one from Amsterdam: Cornelis Troost, from the 1700s.
