Vogue is one of the most influential publications in the fashion world. Women listen to the advice of the magazine for 120 years - from December 17, 1892, when the first issue of the American edition was published. Vogue is called the history of visual culture: since its inception, the famous fashion magazine not only demonstrates the trends of each season, but also, to a large extent, forms them. The change of fashion epochs, leading trends in painting, drawing, and then in photography clearly reflects the face of each issue – its cover.

The end of XIX – beginning of XX century Since the first issue and until 1910 Vogue was a weekly magazine for affluent residents of large American cities. Illustrated covers of the publication were made in black and white for 18 years.
10th years of the twentieth century since 1910 Vogue began to produce twice a month.The covers were bright and colorful. Now they illustrated women mostly full-length in fashionable outfits of the time, and portrayed the whole story of the moment. The picture showed women (sometimes together with men or children) on the background of the room or landscape during real activities: walks, rest, shopping, weddings, receiving gifts, preparing for the holiday. In 1910, the cover began to appear inscriptions indicating the main theme of each issue - "100 best autumn models", "Spring and summer fashion", "what is shown in stores", etc.

40-ies of the twentieth century in the 40-ies photo on the covers of Vogue began to displace the illustration. 60 years of the twentieth century With the 60-ies of XX century under the leadership of new editor-in-chief Diana Vreeland begins the era of the models on the cover of Vogue.
