Stig Severinsen - diver from Denmark is the champion in breath-hold under water.
Usually people start to catch air in a few minutes of being under water. Dane can hold his breath for 22 minutes under water. Severinsen began swimming at the age of 6 years. He became champion 4 times in a row at the age of 9, 10, 11 and 12. He also played underwater hockey for the Spanish national team.
His achievements also include:
· In March 2010, Severinsen set a record, swimming 72 meters under ice in glasses and swimming trunks.
· In April 2010, he inhaled pure oxygen, held his breath for 20 minutes 10 seconds in the pool with sharks.
· In may 2012 he set the record, holding his breath for 22 minutes in a basin filled with water, cooled to -1 C.
· In April 2013, Severinsen has set two new records: “the longest swimming underwater with a breath” when he swam 152 meters in 2 minutes 11 seconds in a wetsuit and flippers, and another record is 76.2 meters only in swimming trunks.
