The United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps is a national youth organization that promotes interest and skill in naval disciplines while instilling strong moral character, responsibility, and leadership. The program does this by modeling it's technical and cadet leadership development based off of the United States Naval Professional Development program.

With over 350 units in the country and 9,000 cadets, the program has opportunities for youth from Guam to Montana to Porto Rico. Units are staffed by trained US Navy Veterans, Active Duty personnel, Parents with no military background. Adults leader need to be interested in providing guidance and leadership to cadets. All leaders undergo background investigations and are required to attend yearly training on recognizing child abuse.

The program has high expectations for each cadet, and those willing will find the support from their dedicated adult leaders.

The program has two age groups.

Ages 10-13 can join the Navy League Cadet Corps upon reaching the age of 13 can transfer to the Naval Sea Cadet Corps and participate in the program through the completion of high school.

13-17-year-old cadets are allowed to participate in the NSCC without prior experience and can join Sea Cadet units without previous participation as a leaguer.

The program provides insight into the naval service without any military commitment. The cadets can join the Navy, or decide the military is not for them, but the experiences stay with them for life. Many of us come back to the program years later, deciding that this program made an impact on us and our professional lives.
