Pacific Beacon: Where do you live stationed aboard ship when import?

in #history6 years ago

San Diego Naval Station has upgraded it's available bachelor enlisted housing to provide easy commutes and affordable options to enlisted sailors. Pacific Beacon is one such option available to sailors, one of the nicest public-private partnership projects in the region. The housing option gives sailors the option to live near downtown at reduced rates but maintains a standard of living that many have come to expect living out in town.

Full furnished options are available. This allows sailors to live with most basic comforts without having to invest in furnishings lowering costs of storage and moves if they transfer commands.

The downside? A few do exist. You share a common living area with private master suites that include bathrooms. That means you do not necessarily get to pick your roommates much less the people living down the hall. If you joined the Navy a bit late, in your late twenties or early thirties, a complex full of junior sailors may not be the type of environment for you.

What is next door? Palmer Hall, older BEQ dormitory style living is primarily for E1-E4 under four years in the Navy. This is the original BEQ, it is now privately operated under the available options of Pacific Beacon.
