View from the Mount of Olives to the City of Jerusalem

The view standing on the Mount of Olives, looking at the Temple Mount, with the Hebron Valley in between. The steepness of the walk down the Mount of Olives was surprising. I imagined it would have been difficult to ride a donkey down this slope. Then you have all the Jews crowding the path, yelling "Hosanna, Hosanna" which means, "save us, save us." Their cries for a savior from the Romans, not from their sins. Very ironic, he was there to save them, but in a different way. He knew those praising him in a few days would cry out "crucify him." All of this was on my mind as I looked over the Hebron Valley to the Temple Mount, and the city of Jerusalem. It was very emotional.

Golden Gate from below in Hebron Valley

The Golden Gate was on the Eastern wall of the city, and is also called the Eastern Gate. This gate was sealed up in the 16th century by the Ottoman Turks. Supposedly, this was done to prevent the entrance of the Jewish Messiah through that gate as was foretold by Old Testament prophecies.
