Two Englishmen, William Lyons along with William Walmsley, who desired to create sidecars for motorcycles had started in 1922 it. This business was called that the Swallow Sidecar Company, and sidecars were part of their creation until the time of WWII. In 1926 it started making custom bodies. The car from the company has been a low car with cable wheels, a passenger compartment, and a boot, and came out in 1931.

It looked expensive but was quite affordable. In 1933-6 Mr. Lyons became owner of the business, and the business was joined by Harry Weslake. The name Jaguar was first utilized in 1935. The most famous of the automobiles of the pre WWII period has been the SS 100, that had a 3.5 litre engine, along with a high speed of over 100 mph. The acceleration for this model was to 60 in about ten seconds, and had a range of racing successes in that the Grand Prix, that the Alpine Rally, and that the Monte Carlo Rally. The model's success brought a lot of attention.

World War II caused that the factories to be used for purposes other than developing vehicles, But after that the war that the new Jaguars had that the choice of driving controls on that the left hand side. The name of the company name has changed, to Jaguar Vehicles Ltd. Several other roadsters and touring vehicles were produced throughout the postwar era throughout the 50s, all with a lot of power and usually superb styling. During this time the business decided it needed to expand beyond selling luxury along with sports vehicles, since much of its market has been in foreign nations, with not necessarily stable governments.

So the business designers came up which has that the MK I, to be sold at home and in that the United States to a larger market than its previous models. The was followed by the MK II, that has been an instant success, and had a larger glass area along with leather seats as standard. In 1966 Mr. Lyons stepped down as controlling your stresses director. The business merged which has Leyland in 1968, but that the final departure of Sir William and that the merger which has Leyland seemed to mark the end of the company.
