RE: [1/4] Billy the Kid - Anti-Hero of the Southwest - Part III

in #history8 years ago

I wonder what it is that makes this type of character so fascinating in the minds of descendants. What is so cool about a gangster that killed people and robbed banks? Or was Billy the Kid an American version of Robin Hood? Took from the rich and gave it to middle class?

@mgaft1 I think you should read Part 1 and 2 and you will understand a little better. Also, for 1, Billy never Robbed or Stole banks, and he mostly killed to defend himself. Also, those times were very different than they are today. The Southwest still had to worry about indians, bandits, cattle rustlers and possible raids from bandidos. That is why they called it the Wild West. Billy was a young kid caught in politics and greed, and he never stood a chance, but he gave them hell why he lived, and that is why he is an ANTI-HERO.
The comic book heros are fake my friend. They do not exist in real life. Take for example our great American Hero, Thomas Jefferson, well, he was married, and still managed to have children with his slave. Great man, just not perfect.
