There could be a correlation with hate crimes rising with Trump's presidency but I wouldn't be quick to say that it is soley his responsibility. With the LGBT coming to the spotlight more, I would say transgenders have become more open with themselves. Leaving them to be ridiculed more than ever. Hate crimes towards LGBT has been happening long before any of these presidencies. They are happening more because it's a controversial topic in the mainstream media.

The number of Americans who report knowing a transgender person doubled in seven years, according to a 2015 GLAAD survey. And even though not all sexual assualts get reported, people who are LGBT are more likely to experience violence between partners compared to heterosexual relationships.

You aren't wrong saying violence towards LGBT has increased but you aren't right saying it's because of someone's inauguration. Hate crimes are increasing all over the world.
