In 1085, Mardin was conquered by the Turks. And for many years, Mardin has been ruled by the various Turkish principalities. In 1517, Mardin was conquered by the Ottoman Empire. After the breakup of the Ottoman Empire, Mardin has been a city of the Republic of Turkey.
