Mardin

According to research, communities began to live in the Paleolithic age for the first time in Mardin. After the excavations, in the Stone Age, the Chalcolithic Age and the Bronze Age, the communities lived in Mardin and arrounds.

In 2000 BC, Mardin was conquered by the Assyrians. Then the Hittites began to rule Mardin. But shortly after, Mardin was conquered by the Urartian kingdom.

In the 4th century, the Roman Empire conquered Mardin. But the Arabs tried to conquer Mardin many times. And in 640, Mardin was conquered by the Arabs. Until 1085, Mardin changed hands among many Arab states.

In 1085, Mardin was conquered by the Turks. And for many years, Mardin has been ruled by the various Turkish principalities. In 1517, Mardin was conquered by the Ottoman Empire. After the breakup of the Ottoman Empire, Mardin has been a city of the Republic of Turkey.
