I. Abdulmecid

I. Abdulmecid was born in 1823. Sultan Abdulmecid became the ruler of the Ottoman State upon the death of Mahmud Khan in 1839.

Abdulmecid Khan has made many innovations in the Ottoman State. Abdulmecid Khan, the first identity card and paper issued money.

Sultan Abdülmecid, architecture has given great importance. Dolmabahçe Palace and Ortaköy Mosque were built during the reign of Sultan Abdülmecid.

At the same time, Sultan Abdulmecid was gift awarded to Samuel Morse for discovering the Morse code and became the first patent holder of the Morse code alphabet.

Sultan Abdulmecid sent 1000 pound and 5 ship foods to help Ireland despite British intervention to aid the Great Potato Famine.

Sultan Abdülmecid died in 1861.
