Edmund Ironside

II. Edmund was born in 989. II. Edmund became king of England in 1016.

Edmund is the son of Ethelred. Ethelred ruled the Kingdom of England very badly. And the Vikings conquered a large part of England during Ethelred's time. Then Edmund started a rebellion against his father Ethelred. And as a result of this revolt, in 1016 Edmund became king of England.

Edmund was supported by the people and lords of England. Edmund tried to build a great army very quickly. Because the Vikings were plundering more and more British villages every day. Edmund, who wanted to prevent this, worked very hard.

If Edmund was insufficient in number, he managed to create an army. And Edmund has fought against the Vikings. Because of these wars, the Viking danger has been slowed down even though the Viking danger can not be completed. In response to his success in these wars, the British public Edmund addressed Edmund Ironside.

Edmund died in 1016.
