JEDEDIAH HAWKINS HOUSE
Captain Jedediah Hawkins built this Italiante style house complete with a tall (campanile) tower in 1863 in Jamesport Long Island, NY. After the Civil War he and his three brothers ran a fishing business out of Jamesport. The house was occupied up to about 1950 then fell into disrepair, being boarded up in 1980. In 2004 the house was a hazard and scheduled for demolition. Two days before the demolition it was bought and saved by a local builder.
After two years of restoration of the house, out building and 22 surrounding acres it was opened as an Inn and Restaurant. It is now listed in the National Registry of Historical Places.
