INDIAN // MARKER TREES
Marker trees or Trail trees were made and used by Eastern North American Native Tribes.
They would bend small trees (saplings) over and fasten to the ground. This forced the tree to grow in a deformed manner.
The trail trees are still found through out the Eastern United States. A great amount are in the Mississippi Valley, Kentucky, Ohio, Illinois,Wisconsin,Michigan, Indiana and Missouri.

As time marches on these trees will be gone and join the Indians who made them.

Wow. You totally just taught me something new. Growing up we called those "number four" trees. I thought they were just dysfunctional like some of the trees that have really large nodules on them. Never knew the real reason. Learn something new everyday. Resteemed
There is debate if some of these trees are freaks of nature or injured when young. But since there were so many it seems they were man made.
Yeah, I've seen several of them in my time so there must be Something to it.. Very interesting
