Interesting perspective. I have just this hour returned from an interview with Dikgang Moseneke who in May this year retired as South Africa's deputy chief justice. The interview was on his autobiography, which goes back to his arrest in 1963 as a 15-year-old on anti-revolutionary charges, and his detention, beating and sentencing to 10 years on the country's notorious island prison named Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was also held.
