DH 60 G Gipsy 1 Engine upright cylinders
DH 60 M metal fuselage Gipsy 1 Engine
DH 60 G111 Gipsy 111 engine inverted cylinders

An advantage of the DH 60 Moth series was that the wings could be folded back
reducing the hanger area needed to store the A/C

In 1931 a variant of the DH 60 M was marketed for military training as DH 60 T

This was re-engined with the Gipsy 111 and called the DH 60 Tiger moth

This was modified with swept-back wings,
The Cabane struts were moved forward to
improve egress from the front cockpit in case of emergency

These changes were considered enough to rename the A/C as DH 82 Tiger Moth

By 1929 it was estimated 85 out of 100 A/C were Moths of one form or another

Interesting post @len.george. it amazes me how many planes were already in operation by WW1. Planes sure have come a long way.

NZ was a try anything in the early days of aviation, From the very first, beating the Wright Bros by at least 6 months, to gathering anything that was cheap.
The leaders of the time missed out on a lot of opportunities on the grounds of cost, stupidity, or not wanting to take giveaways.
Most of the early planes were ex WW1, and Britain was giving them away to get rid of them.
The real waste was yet to come, 1945 onwards getting rid of all the lend-lease planes for the aluminum.
