Chiva: Tradition on wheels
La Chiva is a typical Colombian bus. It is characterized by being colorful, predominating the yellow, blue and red that are the same colors of the national colombian flag. This exotic bus has a ladder that communicates with the roof where the luggage rack is.
This Chiva is part of the exhibition of typical objects that is in the cathedral of salt in the department of cundinamarca. It was called "La Gaviota". All these buses are baptized with very original names.

Currently these buses are used as tourist attractions, they offer trips along the streets of Colombia with dance floor and typical music. Tourists can dance and have fun.
It was declared a cultural heritage in 2008. The first Chiva was made in the department of Antioquia in 1930 and called Ayacucho. Traveling in chiva is a unique experience, please don't die without having done it! :D
