Gerês trip!!! Beautiful waterfalls, landscapes and history #3 (EN)
Hi Steemians,
This time and for closure, i will talk you about the historic part of our visit to Gerês.
While driving by car , we managed to visit several locations and i want to share with you three very beautiful and historic places.
Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora da Peneda
Allegedly the religious place has origin in an apparition of the Lady of Peneda in the XII century and that gave origin to a small chapel that served the pilgrim that came for their prayers.
The Sanctuary has 150 years of existence, since it was finished.
The stairs were long and it took us a while due to the heat. But we were well rewarded.
Lindoso Castle
The Castle of Lindoso has more than 700 years of existence and its purpose was of protection of the border.
I didn't get many photograph's of the inside, but it looked very medieval.
Granaries of Lindoso
The granaries served for cereal storage. It's elevated structure was design for protection of animal attacks and has form of humidity reduction, for being more aired.
