Biggest Samurai Sword ever found, from the 1400's.

in #history8 years ago (edited)

Its name is Norimitsu Odachi. It measures at 12.5 feet long, and weighs around 31lbs! It would take a big guy to wield something of that size. This is a beautiful sword!

There have been several massive swords found throughout the years, but this one just happened to be the biggest. Each giant sword was said to have attached to it, a folklore of the incredible legendary warriors that they once belonged to.

It could possibly just have been a nice decorative piece for some ruler somewhere, but it is a real sword that can be used. I like to imagine a huge fearsome samurai swinging that bad boy around!

Do you really think there could have been a giant person swinging this around? Or do you think someone forged it as a decorative art piece? Let me know what you think, or just proclaim your love for samurai!
