Acehnese women are known to be tough and brave. A series of names like Admiral Malahayati, Cut Nyak Dhien, Cut Nyak Meutia, Pocut Baren and other female warriors are known to have no fear on the battlefield.

Like Cut Nyak Meutia (1870-1910), Acehnese heroine who chose guerrilla against the Dutch until finally hit by three bullets in his body. Although killed by bullets, Cut Meutia struggle until now is remembered and his name is immortalized as one of the national heroes.

Cut Meutia's struggle against the Dutch has been widely told in biographical books and national hero records. Where the guerrilla tactics in the wilderness he did with the Muslim forces managed to ravage the Dutch troops.

As quoted from Atjehcyber as published in statusaceh.net, the history of Cut Meutia struggle is told in full. However, this morning's story will present the Cut Meutia guerrilla struggle against Dutch colonialism.

Cut Meutia was born in Keureutoe, Pirak, Aceh Utara, in 1870, the son of a marriage between Teuku Ben Daud Pirak and Cut Jah. In the marriage they are blessed with 5 children. Cut Meutia is the only daughter in the family, while the four siblings are male.

The oldest brother named Cut Beurahim, Teuku Muhammadsyah, Teuku Cut Hasen and Teuku Muhammad Ali. His father was a Uleebalang in the village of Pirak who was in the Keureebalangan Keureutoe area.

Giving a beautiful name with Meutia which means pearl. Not only because of his beautiful face, but a beautiful body shape with him. The recognition of the beauty of Cut Meutia has been written and immortalized by a Dutch author. (HC Zentgraaff, 1983: 151)

As is customary in Aceh, since childhood Meutia has been given Islamic education. He was taught how to live amar ma'ruf nahi munkar. Islam hates against evil and oppression and displeases anyone who disrupts Islam and its people.

After adulthood, Meutia married her parents with Teuku Syamsarif titled Teuku Chik Bintara. However, because it has a weak character and attitude that tends to be friendly with the company makes Cut Meutia uncomfortable to accompany Teuku Chik Bintara.

Finally their marriage did not last long. Cut Meutia later married his own sister Shamsarif Teuku Chik Muhammad or known as Teuku Chik Tunong. The man she loved so much.

The beginning of the Meutia struggle began in 1901 with a base of struggle in the Pasai or Krueng Pasai area (North Aceh now) under the war command of Teuku Chik Tunong (her own husband). Cut Meutia not only as a housewife, but also a battle strategy manager so that his tactics often ravage the Dutch troops.

The war against the Dutch broke out in 1901. The Dutch troops with fuller weaponry forced the Acehnese soldiers led by the husband and wife to conduct guerrilla war tactics. Many times their troops managed to intercept the Dutch troops patrol. At other times, they also attack directly to the Dutch army headquarters in Idie.
