May includes the bloody month in Aceh. Not to evoke a grudge that may have been buried long in our heart, but just remind the people of Aceh, that in this month there are a number of tragedies are quite heartbreaking. And we pray that the bitter time should never come back. All that is done, including this article, is the work of Fighting Forgotten.
May 3, 1999, a number of lives floated in Simpang KKA due to bullet of soldiers who deliberately spewed toward crowds of people who were protesting against incidents of mistreatment of citizens in Cot Murong which occurred a month before this bloody event. The heartbreaking tragedy, also known as the Krueng Geukueh Tragedy, North Aceh, will continue to be remembered and commemorated.

On May 17, 2003, on that fateful morning, three Reo transported a fully armed soldier. They deliberately entered a resident's home in Jambo Keupok Village, South Aceh, under the pretext of conducting a raid based on information that Jamboe Keupok was the base location of the Free Aceh Movement (GAM). It did not take long, then the soldiers locked up the people inside a house, then strafe, then burned the house to kill 16 people (extrasjudicial killing). Two days later;

19 May 2003, the Government of Indonesia also established Aceh as a military emergency area. Determination of the status of Aceh (Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam) is through Presidential Decree No. 28 of 2003 on Statement of Dangerous State With Levels of Military Emergency in the Province of Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam. During this time, more dozens of Acehnese lives become victim of soldiers' ferocity over the state's blessing. For that, anyone who tomorrow (May 3, 2018) is in Aceh Utara and Lhokseumawe, may be attending KKA Simpang to join Do'a together in order to commemorate KKA Simpang tragedy. It has been 19 years since the tragedy has passed, but there has not been a bright spot that could become a healer for the families' wounds.
