Today in History!- Nixon becomes President
On this day in 1968, Richard Nixon defeats Vice President Hubert Humphrey to become the 37th president of the United State of America.
In an election adjudged as the closest in the history of the USA saw Nixon beat Humphrey by less than 500,000 votes.
Nixon a Republican was elected by the people to help the country get out out of the quagmire it is tied in in terms of the war in Vietnam and the Democrats weren't going any much to make thing better.
During his presidency, he oversaw changes in the US cold war foreign policy and other such achievements in Vietnam.
