Titanic, between luxury and tragedy !!!

in #history6 years ago

On the morning of April 15, 1912, the ship's drowning took 1495 lives and shaped one of the greatest legends of navigational history. The Titanic had rescue boats for 1200 people, but on board there were 2200. For long time historians, treasure hunters, oceanographers have demanded the ship's survivors. In 1985, the Titanic was located at the bottom of the sea, 4km deep and 800km away from the Canadian coast. The story of the Titanic and his two twin ships, the Olympic and British, had begun at the London home, owned by Lord James Pirrie, the largest shareholder in Harland and Wolf. In that house he joined on June 10, 1907 with Bruce Ismay, managing director of the White Star Line marine company and decided to build the world's 3 largest ships. The same night they were named after, the first one called the Olympics, the second Titanic, and the third the Giant, a name that changed the British after the tragedy. For the construction of the Titanic, 3000 people worked for 27 months. The rise of the transatlantic demanded 27,000 tons of stainless steel from the best of the era. The steel sheets had a thickness of 2.5 cm and were connected to each other by 3 million bolts. It was 880 feet tall and 175 feet high, it took 20 horses to set up the Titanic anchor.

Bruce Ismay, managing director of the naval company White Star Line, survived the tragedy and the act of seizing a woman's place in one of the rescue boats was rejected by British society and died alone in his home in Ireland in 1937. In April 10, 1912 The Titanic began traveling from Southampton to New York. The Titanic started with 2224 people on board, passengers and crew. The luxury of the interior of the ship attracted many rich and famous. All first-class rooms were spacious, comfortable and elegant, with covered walls, with upholstery. The reserved areas for the first class were equipped with all the amenities: swimming pools, gymnasiums, Turkish bath, masterly decorated. There was a double-tipped oak wood staircase with a gold-plated blade. The decorating angel was pulled from the bottom of the sea during the first diving. Entrepreneur John Jacob Astor IV was one of the wealthiest people in the world when he died at Titanic's killing with an equivalent wealth of $ 2.16 billion today. On the night of April 14 Astori informed her wife that the ship had collided with an iceberg. They both boarded, helped her escort to one of the sailing boats, and asked if she could accompany her, as she was five months pregnant, a claim that was denied because the women and children first fled. Madeleine, her wife, was saved, but her husband and her servant drowned. Astorit's body was found on April 25th. 4 days after departure, the crew began receiving messages from other iceberg vessels along the way.

These recommendations were not taken into account and Captain Edwars Smith entered the room at 21:20. The observers were less diligent and the ship walked with all speed. At 23:40 the ship collided with an iceberg. The night was clear, but the moon did not light up and the observers did not have binoculars and they saw the iceberg when it was in front of them. When the alarm was triggered, they were ordered to turn right and set the backup engines to work. Although they had a margin to do it was not enough. A few seconds after the alarm collapsed The Titanic collided with the iceberg on the right. The impact was barely felt and the passengers did not understand, but at 00:05 the rescue boats were being released and within 5 minutes were heard calls for help. 2 hours 45 minutes after the crash the ship was completely drowned. The ship had half of the sailing boats, because society thought the ship could not be drowned. Those who did not ride on the rescue boats, mostly the crew and third-class passengers, wore the waistcoats but did not serve anything in the northern Atlantic cold waters.

The rescue boats were rescued at 03:30 am by Carpathia transatlantic. Carpathia was a transatlantic who came from New York and when he heard the news of the disaster, Captain Arthur Rostron ordered the diversion of the road to come to the aid of the survivors. Carpathia escaped 704 passengers. Of all passengers saved only 32% of them, 1778. Milvina Dean (1912-2009) was the last survivor of the drowning. He was the youngest passenger, only 2 months old when the Titanic left. Her father died in this accident and after her family and she returned to England.
