Topčider park
Today I visited Topčiderski park.
It was a nice walk that reminded me of days spent serving a military service. The barracks where I spent these military days is near this park. It was a period when I just came to Belgrade, and this beautiful park is one of the first places I met.
The symbol of the park is Konak Prince Miloš, built in 1831. In 1954, residence was opened as the Museum of the First Serbian Uprising.
In front of Prince Miloš's Residence include one of the oldest and most beautiful plane tree in Europe, protected as a natural and rare (over 160 years old, one of the oldest and most beautiful planets in Europe).
In the park there is monument to the Swiss Doctor of Chemistry and criminology-pioneer, forensic, scientist Archibald Reiss.
He was great friend of Serbia and the Serbian people. Reiss carried out an inquiry on crimes against the civilian population in Serbia during World War I and published the reports in European papers. After the war he lived in Serbia. He died on 1929 in Belgrade his body was buried in the Topčider cemetery. At his request, his heart was taken in urn at Kajmakčalan, where it was buried with other Serb soldiers.
Obelisk
The monument was erected in honor of the return of Prince Milos to Serbia in 1859.
An important part of the park is the Topčider River, the tributary of the Sava River.
