A Gold Three Is A Magic Number

These all sound pretty important. But how long has the number 3 been around?

The Pythagoreans (their teachings influenced by mathematics and mysticism, originating in 6th century B.C.) taught that 3 was the first true number, hence the name Pythagorean theorem:

These were used in a 13th century manuscript as a symbol of the Christian Trinity (Father, Son and Holy Spirit)

If any ring is removed, the remaining two will collapse. Just like it takes three legs to make a tripod or to make a table stand.
