in #history6 years ago

A taxi driver finally found the missing daughter back 24 years ago on Tuesday (3/4/2018).

Wang Mingqing, the taxi driver, and his wife Liu Chengying were only a few moments away when their daughter Qifeng left their own fruit stall.

The incident took place in January 1994 and since then Wang Mingqing and Liu Chengying have never found their daughter.

"We are just off guard for about five minutes and my daughter is gone," Wang told the West China Daily newspaper.

As soon as Qifeng disappeared, Wang and his wife left their jobs selling fruit and spent time searching for their beloved daughter.

However, their efforts are fruitless. Although they were later awarded the second child, but the effort to find Qifeng never goes out.

In 2015, Wang worked as a taxi driver and watched how often the passengers used their mobile phones.

Wang then ventured to ask his passengers to upload his story to social media in the hope that the missing princess read the messages on the social media.

Wang also printed and distributed 10,000 leaflets containing the story of the disappearance of Qifeng complete with the description of the princess's face when she lost in 1994.

This effort attracted a local newspaper which later contained Wang's story that continued searching for her disappearing daughter.

For the past three years, Wang has been contacted by some women who are probably his daughters. However, when the DNA test is done the result is still nil, the princess has not been found.

Two weeks ago, a 27-year-old woman from Jilin province contacted Wang through social media after reading her story.

This woman told Wang, chances are she is her missing daughter all the time.

The woman said she was adopted as a child and raised with the name Kang Ying in a town only 20 kilometers away from Wang's residence.

With the help of an NGO focused on bringing together separate families, the woman who now has two children undergo DNA testing.

And on Sunday (1/4/2018), the results of DNA tests ensure Kang Ying is none other than Qifeng daughter Wang who was lost 24 years ago.

After the fact was revealed, Kang Ying alias Qifeng then flew to Chengdu city to meet his parents.

"After all the hopes, disappointments, and desperation we have been through for the past 24 years, we can now meet again," Wang was quoted as saying by the Beijing Youth Daily.

There is no exact data regarding the number of missing children in China each year but this phenomenon is an old problem in the Bamboo Curtain country.

Every year tens of thousands of children are believed to be victims of kidnappings. They are then sold to families for adoption.
