MOUNTAIN SCULPTURE

Well, when the Governor finished, we finally had time to look at Mount Rushmore.
Fantastic! Four enormous heads sculpted on the face of the mountain . The first is George Washington, the first president, who exchanged letters with King Mohammed 3 of Morocco. The next is Thomas jefferson, the third president. Then there is Abraham Lincoin, the 16th president and leader of the North in the American Civil War. Finally there is Theodore Roosevelt, the 26th president. He was from the same family as Franklin Roosevelt, the 32nd president, who visited Casablanca in 1944 and supported Mohammed 5 is demand for independence.

A man called Gutzon Borglum "sculpted" these four heads with dynamite,working from 1927 until 1941. A long job.
Today my American guide, Gayle Hansbury, is coming to get me. This afternoon we're taking a plane to...San Francisco
