5MB IBM hard drive, 1956.
This 5 MB hard drive required a team lift in 1956.
Actually, IBM could have made it 10MB, but their salesmen felt that 5MB was the most they could sell. A 10MB version finally came out in 1959. By the way, the monthly rent on this sucker was about the purchase price of a Buick.
Says a lot about the evolution of semi-conductors.
