Cat Kazan

Making a walk through the Kazan Arbat - Bauman street, tourists are necessarily photographed at several unusual sculptural objects. One of the most beloved ones is the Cat of Kazan, a monument to a huge imposing cat, personifying simultaneously a real story and its fabulous incarnation.
"Cat of Kazan: Astrakhan mind, Siberian mind" - this inscription can be read at the base of the sculptural composition, and it is dedicated to the mythical cat Alabrysu, whose fame in skill and ability to catch mice seemed to reach even the then capital of St. Petersburg. It was rumored that it was she who owed the Kazanians to the legendary decree of the Empress Elizabeth, who became one of the legends of the city. Since then, Kazan cats have become comic book characters of the time - popular prints, and still statuettes of seals in skullcaps - a favorite souvenir from Kazan.
