An expedition to find Atlantis p2

in #history6 years ago (edited)

Update: I found some new pictures!

With a sea level rise, this could very likely be the place Plato described as Atlantis.

An extremely unique geological formation known as the Richat structure.

'Atlantes' is even included on this map

"Herodotus (c. 484 BC – c. 425 BC) was an ancient Greek historian who was born in Halicarnassus in Bodrum, Turkey. He is known for having written the book The Histories, a detailed record of his "inquiry" on the origins of the Greco-Persian Wars. He is widely considered to have been the first writer to have treated historical subjects using a method of systematic investigation—specifically, by collecting his materials and then critically arranging them into a historiographic narrative. On account of this, he is often referred to as "The Father of History", a title first conferred on him by Cicero."

First we need to get to Quadane, Mauritania

This is starting to get more attention as the pieces begin to fit together.

"The immense credibility of writers that published their works two millennia ago suggests that Atlantis was something more than an allegory, as most people are well aware."

The nearest airports are quite a distance away,

But lets look at Chinguetti;

"Occupied for thousands of years, the Chinguetti region was once a broad savannah. Cave paintings in the nearby Amoghar Pass feature images of giraffes, cows and people in a green landscape. It is quite different from the sand dunes of the desert found in the region today.

The city was founded in 777, and by the 11th century had become a trading center for a confederation of Berber tribes known as the Iẓnagen Confederation. It was at the crossroads of trade routes."

So how do we book the flights?

I would need to raise funds for a small expedition.

But of course it is not so easy, nobody does this.

This is going to take some planning. What do you think?

Would you go on an expedition to find Atlantis?

Would you help fund an adventure like this?

This could be called a SteemVenture!
