Whats left of Serbia, the dark side

in #history8 years ago (edited)

The article I wrote about bright side of the Serbian history (https://steemit.com/history/@crt/inspire-your-day-red-cross-history-be-humane-as-serbia-in-1885) is just one side of the story.

I do owe you to tell what's left, what's made of the spirit from the article above.

This "infographic" was taken few days ago while i was driving home.

This has nothing to do with politics. It has to do with "USA" being able to build a military complex in the center of the city, and forbid me from taking pictures of the few square miles area around it in my home town.

usa.jpg

The last picture is not the military base. It's a civil object, in the center of the city with many civilians died that night in the action of codename, believe it or not "Merciful Angel".

This is the second, and the last post describing how it was, and how it is, in the small balkan country that stood against fascism in World War II, when almost all the other small countries signed capitulation.

Now, if you are US based company, you are entitled to much lower taxes in Serbia then Serbian companies pay - among many other benefits. Asking why? I think we are all asking the same question, why we allowed to get occupied.
it's nothing strange to have a local business person, go and open company in US, then a local branch here in order to pay less and get more :)

And this is how it was: https://steemit.com/history/@crt/inspire-your-day-red-cross-history-be-humane-as-serbia-in-1885

Stored in blockchain, as a legacy for the future generations of humanity, wherever it shows on the planet. Please don't make a political debate out of this.

Interesting !!! I did not know Us military base may be so restricted areas like that!!

Ahh, but it's not a military base. It's just an embassy :) With restrictions of taking pictures few km2 around it. :D Heavy armed forces, who knows how many floors deep, etc etc...but just an embassy :D

well US embassy and /or military bases usually are very restricted what it is impressive the fact of not allow pictures in that area.

A lot of things are impressive about that, but I am not going to get into details. The purpose of this post and previous one was to show the contrast. In this specific scenario, there was no voting, or anything. Foreign solders just come, built an object, forbid taking pictures or even staying on the whole part of the street, and say "From today, we have immunity". Have in mind, this country is not a member of any international military organization such as NATO. Everybody asks question, what the hell the foreign base is doing here and who allowed it? - Total Silence :)

Another example:

  • If you open a company here, a domestic one - you normally pay taxes.
  • If you an American company, State pays you so called 'subventions' and you are usually released from taxes. So our business persons open companies in US, to do business here :)

(and a lot more).

And by the way, we also have a president. If you ever visit Serbia, rest assured you are never going to meet anyone who said he voted for him. We are all searching to meet a single guy who voted for president elected by majority :)))
(This is the most famous part)

But the local culture takes all of that as a 'humor'. It's hard to understand for a foreigner, but people do jokes about that all the time. The most popular is about Trump. Loosely translated it's something like 'having hard times finding your majority too?'...

At the end of the day, it get's down with a lot of beer and fun. (That part of spirit is not occupied yet)

But you should discard this, as it's my personal interpretation. The purpose of both posts was to be objective and allow anyone to form his own opinion, so please just discard this. :)

I found interesting what you wrote . In my opinion it is geopolitical I will not go on details because I think you know and you have your own opinion as you were rightly asking the reason why they are allowed to do that. And actually I agree with that. By the way I immagine people vote a politician or his party and then they will say they deny to have voted him it is not only in Serbia .

Totally agree. As for the geopolitical situation, the whole world gone crazy. Not only here. I was unable to believe what happened in Spain for example, so I actually don't have an opinion :) Just an observation that something is seriously wrong everywhere.

But as in regards to people denial, I can tell you from first hand that's not the case. I was the first to believe what you say would explain things. Until I saw something like 50.000 people protesting, and the small announcement on national television, after the sports and weather section, that a small group of 300 people protested for something. (the whole country was blocked).

But as said, every region seems to have it's sort of 'crazy problems'. I don't think the root of the issue is here, or any other central place. It seems that each region has a sort of common mentality ground, and appropriate crazy guy on top playing chess with other crazy guys.

In conclusion, my only opinion is that through history, you need to have dark ages, and then you need to have a renaissance afterwards. It's a moving circle. Lucky for us, technology and science of period we are living moves in the good direction.

As simple as that, in order to be happy, people around you needs to be happy too. I think that obvious but forgotten fact is slowly getting realized by masses. And that's whats important.

That's my political opinion :)

for what concerns your opinion about people denial I have to follow what you wrote as you know better than me about your country. I agree with you if there are dark ages there should be also a renaissance it usually is like that. But technology like everything has something good and something wrong. What I am worried about is obviously the wrong ones I agree with you also about th people needs to be happy.
