From History: Today's Famous Birthdays

1. Sania Mirza
Sania Mirza is a tennis player from India who was ranked number 1 in world ranking in women's doubles.
She started her career as a singles player, but didn't achieve much success though she had some notable wins against players like Svetlana Kuznetsova, Vera Zvonareva, Marion Bartoli, Martina Hingis, Dinara Safina and Victoria Azarenka.
A wrist injury forced her to retire from Singles and she started concentrating on doubles and mixed double there after.
She has won 6 grand-slam titles (3 in doubles and 3 mixed doubles).
She was named among "50 Heroes of Asia" by Times magazine in 2005.
She has also featured in "33 women who made India proud" by Economics India in 2010 and she again featured in Times magazine's list of "100 most influential people in the world" in 2016.
2. Georgia O'Keeffe
Georgia O'Keeffe was an American artist who was known for her paintings of enlarged flowers, skyscrapers and landscapes of New Mexico.
She has been known as "Mother of American Modernism".
She was also famous for paintings of animal skulls.
One of her paining "Jimson Weed" sold for $44,405,000.
3. Lily Aldridge
Lily Aldridge is an American model who has modeled for Victoria's Secret Angel and Sports Illustrated swimsuit Issue.
She is from fashion oriented family with her father Alan Aldridge, an English artist and her mother Laura Lyons was a Playboy playmate of the month.
She is also part of famous advertising campaigns like Rocawear, Bobbi Brown, GAP, Tommy Hilfiger, JCrew etc.
She also featured on cover pages of magazines Vogue, Elle.
She has also appeared in music album cameos along side Eminem, Snoop Dogg.
4. Matilda Ramsay
Matilda Elizabeth "Tilly" Ramsay popularly known as Matilda Ramsay is a British actress, television presenter and television chef who is famous for presentation of BBC cooking show "Matilda and the Ramsay Bunch" on CBBC.
She was also part of many other chef shows.
She was a presenter of National Television Award in 2014 and appeared in her father's cooking show MasterChef Junior.
5. William Herschel
William Herschel was a British astronomer and composer.
He constructed his first telescope in 1774 and he investigated many stars and was founder of Uranus planet.
Because of this, he was elected as Fellow of Royal Society.
He was also the one who invented the moons of Uranus (Titania and Oberon) and moons of Saturn (Enceladus and Mimas).

And regarding your comment, yes, these guys are a bit little known as they are from different countries and I felt, instead of just writing about famous movie persons why don't I include achievers from other field. As a result of that, I have tried to collect information for people from different background, country and profession. Isn't it interesting to know unknown people? ;)
