Harper's Ferry On the Appalachian Trail
We made it here on Wednesday and will be staying in town for a few days until a resupply package arrives in the mail. Then me and Rain Drop Hound Dog will hike north on the Appalachian Trail towards Maine and Mt. Katahdin....hoping to get there by the beginning of October, but if not then we'll pick up where we stop next year.
We visited the Appalachian Trail Conservancy Building here...but they are closed for renovations for a little while.
Harper's Ferry has a lot of history and great scenery. From civil war landmarks and John Brown's story to the rivers and canals Harper's Ferry has plenty of interesting features to see and learn about.
Some of the old buildings and houses are actually pre-civil war. The entire town has a very authentic atmosphere that captivates me and my camera. I don't mind being here for a few days and having the opportunity to enjoy a walk through the American past.
I will have more pictures for a second blog post hopefully in a couple of days. Me and Rain are resting in a motel room and waiting for the weather to warm up again. The next day or two will be getting back to more spring like temperatures here.
