Sixteen countries including MacArthur, the US commander-in-chief of the United Nations, Britain, Australia, New Zealand, France, Canada, South Africa, Turkey, Thailand, Greece, the Netherlands, Colombia, Ethiopia, the Philippines, Belgium and Luxembourg, And many other countries also provided various economic and humanitarian assistance to South Korea.

The South Korean army, pushed by North Korean troops, reversed the premises with the US and UN troops landing at Incheon as a turning point. UN troops chased North Korean troops and restored Pyongyang in October and proceeded to the Yalu and Tumen rivers. However, with the intervention of the Chinese army, North Korea was withdrawn in December, and after the break of the 38th line, on January 4, 1951, the Republic of Korea withdrew from Seoul again, and the front was stationed around the present truce line.

In order to monitor the implementation of the truce treaty and to discuss the violations pointed out, a "Military Armistice Commission", consisting of UN and Communist army officers, was established and placed at the Panmunjom station.
