Perception shapes the History
First of all when we say history, what does it mean and does everyone perceive it in same way or in general could we see the historical event without distorting it or painting it with our own prejudices, let's look at it. History is essentially an amalgamation of memories of different people in different time, it is completely based on human faculty of memory, which most the time is not very reliable. When humans get involved in any process it can not be considered perfect, in the sense that it will not introduce us to perfect reality. Why so? What is the problem? Humans has this inherent nature of getting identified with different things, and they form a presumed conception about the situation they are identifying with according to their likes and dislike. When you get identified with someone, either positively or negatively, it doesn't matter now what the reality is it will be served with the preconceived notion of that particular person about the concerned situation.
As I said earlier, History is the amalgamation of memories. Memory is not a perfect entity, because different person in a same situation will remember the incident differently, which is all because of the perception which too is unique to every single human born on this earth. Every human carries a bag of memories and experiences with him, which shape her perception and her outlook towards the world. Perception is that filter which distorts the reality, and paint it with the color of ego (though ego is not the correct word here, identity would be more appropriate i.e. the things that person is identified with). So, to be more precise perception is a major contributing factor in writing the history, as the man who is writing the history will definitely paint it according to his filters, and that's what have happened in the past and will always happen. Everybody will portray the historical incidents according to them, everybody has his own version of the history, or as we say generally that everyone has his own reality.
The question arises now how could we know the history as it is, how could we say that this is the correct version among all, is it possible ever to reach to a perfect conclusion or in state of absolute reality and after all does it matter to us what the past was ? May be the best way to pass on history is in the form of stories, because it is hard to distort them.
