RE: Mystery History Pt4a - Lake Monsters and Myths. - Lake Baikal.

in #history7 years ago (edited)

I've always been fascinated with lake monsters. And scared- I won't swim in a lake where I can't see the water!

I was in an unfamiliar part of the country on a Native Reservation for work for a couple weeks. My hotel was on the beach. One day I took my baby boy to the shore with a picnic lunch. It was a calm late summer day, and the water was pristine. Oh so gentle waves. We ate and played and enjoyed the beauty. Suddenly I heard yelling and looked up. A HUGE wave was coming straight at us! I scooped him up in his stroller and scrambled up the hill.

The wave took our picnic and things. And would have taken us- and I don't know how to swim!

The hotel manager came running and told me about the lake monster. He thrashes about every once in a while. Nobody has ever seen him but he has been doing it for over 150 years. In fact... you have inspired me- I am going to do some research and write a post :)

Nice one babe, being able to put personal experience into a post gives it an edge.
I'm glad I could be an inspiration Kitten. I've seen many weird stories from all over Nth America regarding lake Monsters, there must be many yet to be identified species in the water and indeed the areas around them.
Thanks fo the great comment babe. 😉

With the ocean depths so unexplored, as well as many lakes being so deep they cannot locate bottoms, I'm confident there are very large, and ancient, water creatures that have survived for so long due to an deep fear of humans (probably knowing how destructive and careless we are)
