Jacquard loom was invented in the year 1801.It is used to simplify the process of manufacturing textiles with complex patterns which makes the process faster and easier with the help of punched card as its storage medium.
A punched card is a piece of stiff paper that contains digital information represented by the presence or absence of holes in predefined positions. The information might be data for data processing applications or in earlier examples used to directly control automated machinery.
Jacquard loom was the first machine to use punched card as its storage medium to store patterns of clothes, then it can still be referred to as a computer
Nice article. My father has a company we make carpet weaving machines but mechanical ones. Nowadays weaving goes automatic not by hand.
